Two people were killed Tuesday afternoon while another one was wounded in a road accident in Tayabas town in the southern Luzon province of Quezon, a provincial police officer said. The accident, which occurred along the portion of the national highway in Barangay Sabang in Tayabas town, involved a 10-wheeler truck and a car, according to Superintendent Pascual Muñoz, head of the Lucena City Police, in an interview on dzBB radio. The truck driver was killed, Muñoz said, adding that they are confirming if the other fatality was a policeman. "Kino-confirm natin, may nakita tayong may isang naka-uniform na naipit (One of the victims was wearing a uniform. We're trying to confirm if he's a policeman," Muñoz said. Investigators are still interviewing witnesses as of posting time. The accident happened four days after 12 people died when a bus slammed into an acacia tree in La Union province in northern Luzon. The bus was carrying 49 passengers. The bus was carrying pilgrims, who were all from the St. Peter Parish in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, on their way back from visiting churches in Baguio City when the accident happened, police investigators said. - with Sophia Dedace/KBK, GMANews.TV
