OFW rights group to get vote for Satur, Liza Maza

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - A group of Filipino migrant workers endorsed the candidacies of the Makabayan Coalition and Nacionalista Party guest senatorial bets Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza. “Ang aming grupo ay sumusuporta sa tunay ng boses ng OFWs [Overseas Filipino Workers] na sina Ka Satur at Liza Maza," said Eric Jocson, chairperson of the Riyadh-based Kapatiran sa Gitnang Silangan (KGS), member-organization of Migrante in a recent assembly in Riyadh. (Our group is supporting Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza who truly represent concerns of OFWs.) The group’s support is expected to bring in nearly half a million overseas absentee voters for the two candidates, Jocson said. Ocampo and Masa will be very effective once they become senators, especially since they have shown their concern and support not only for OFWs but for Filipino workers in general, he said. “Mas lalong mapapabilis na maipaparating at pagpapatupad ng mga batas sa senado para sa kagalingan ng mga OFWs" added Jocson. (Laws in favor of OFWs will be promulgated faster in the Senate.) But at the same time, Jocson clarified that the group has no specific bet in the presidential race and that their members and supporters are free to choose their own candidates. The group is open with uniting other Filipino organizations endorsing senatorial candidates that have platforms in support of the OFWs, Jocson said. - GMANews.TV
