A police officer was wounded when shot by two unidentified men donning police uniforms in Quezon City on Wednesday, a radio report said. Radio dzBB's Rowena Salvacion quoted investigators from the Quezon City Police District Station 10 (Kamuning) as identifying the victim as Superintendent Napoleon Cauyan. Initial investigation showed the victim was on board his maroon Nissan Frontier Navarra (NIE 587) when two motorcycle-riding men fired shots at the vehicle around noon along Malakas Street. Cauyan got off his vehicle but he was still shot on the left side of his body. The left side of his vehicle sustained the most number of bullet holes. The incident happened near the back of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Quezon City. The report said Cauyan was rushed to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Medical Center along V. Luna Road, where he was declared in "stable condition." A separate report from radio dzMM said police recovered from Cauyan's vehicle a Baby Armalite, five magazines with live ammunition for 45-caliber pistols. The victim's identification card was also retrieved from the car. Police said an 11-year-old teenager witnessed the attack. Police are verifying reports that the two assailants were wearing black jackets over supposed police uniforms. — Mark Merueñas/RSJ/KBK, GMANews.TV
