Fire hits Manila residential area — police


A fire of still undetermined origin hit a residential area in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Wednesday afternoon, police said. No one was reported hurt or killed. PO2 Clarence Vinasoy of the Manila Police District’s Station 3 said the fire started at about 4:25 p.m. at a house located at No. 2160 Oroquieta corner Batangas streets. Vinasoy said the fire reached fifth alarm, but it was placed under control at 4:50 p.m. “But the fire is not yet put out," he added. Vinasoy said they would still investigate the incident once the fire subsides. Superintendent Elixberto Abrenica was tasked as the ground commander and Senior Fire Officer 2 John Barique as the arson investigator. The incident occurred a day after eight fires hit Metro Manila.
