Freddie Roach insists Manny Pacquiao will be the first one to inflict a knockout loss against the durable Joshua Clottey. âI think we will stop him, yes," said Roach in a soft-spoken but firm manner. âI donât think weâll knock him out with one punch, but weâll overwhelm him and make him quit."

Pacquiao and Clottey climb the ring Saturday for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight championship at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium (Sunday in Manila). Clottey, 32, has three losses to show in 38 fights, two by decision against Mexican Antonio Margarito and Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto and one by disqualification against Carlos Baldomir. None among them, however, managed to put him away for good, although Cotto dropped Clottey with a surprise jab in the opening round of their title fight a year ago. Lenny De Jesus, the former cutman of Pacquiao who now trains Clottey, believes the challenger, now based in New York, deserves more than the respect he is getting right now. âAnybody who thinks Manny is just going to walk in and blow Joshua away is kidding themselves," said De Jesus, tapped by Clottey to handle him in training after his training team from Ghana failed to secure their respective U.S. visas. âJoshua is one of the elite fighters in the world, too. There are two elite guys in there. Mannyâs just the one getting all the attention."

Of course, he will. Not only is he one of the best, if not the best, boxer in the world today, the Philippinesâ most beloved has successfully dominated the sport by winning each time he goes up in weight classes, resulting in seven titles in seven different weight divisions. The current pound-for-pound king hasnât lost since a unanimous decision against Erik Morales in 2005, racking up 11 straight wins. The last four of those victories came by way of knockout at the expense of former world champions David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Cotto. And if Roach is to be believed, Clottey is coming next. Asked what round he thinks the knockout will come? âBefore the 12th," Roach said.
