(Updated) Fire in Tondo renders 200 families homeless

(Updated 5:21 PM) A fire that may have been caused by an overheating airconditioner has rendered 200 families homeless in Tondo, Manila. The fire, which broke out at 10:30 in the morning, began at the residence of Bhebe Javier on Tioco Street , Herbosa, Tondo, Senior Fire Officer 2 Lords Hernandez of the Manila Fire Bureau, said.
Reports indicated that the Javier family’s air-conditioning reportedly exploded after it was overheated. After immediately engulfing the house, the fire spread to other houses in the area and later declared out at 11:15 in the morning. In the meantime, classes held inside the nearby Dr. Juan Nolasco High School were suspended because of the fire.
