Parents of baby with 2 sex organs appeal for help

A couple in Tacloban City in Eastern Visayas is appealing for help as their newborn baby with two sex organs is experiencing difficulty in breathing. Visayas-based Bombo Radyo reported the baby had difficulty breathing due to a deformed nose, and had been at the St. Paul's Hospital for a week. Born on January 29, that baby’s male sex organ is more prominent than the female, according to the report. The infant was born prematurely at eight months, and could not nurse even from a bottle. It had to be fed through a tube. Jennifer, the child's mother, said she was saddened that her first baby had to suffer such difficulty. She said she was also surprised because their regular checkups earlier had indicated the baby would be normal. But she also recalled that while ultrasound tests indicated she would give birth to quadruplets, the tests detected only one heartbeat. She said it is possible the baby may have been affected in her womb because she was exposed to chemicals in her workplace during the early stages of her pregnancy. — LBG, GMANews.TV
