Coast Guard to tow away unregistered seacraft during Holy Week

The Philippine Coast Guard has warned operators of unregistered seacraft that it would tow away their vessels if they try to pick up passengers during Holy Week. Coast Guard commandant Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo also ordered his men to look out for such vessels in tourist destinations such as Cebu, Bohol and Boracay in the Visayas, dzBB radio reported. Tamayo said their records showed that a number of maritime accidents during the Holy Week involved unregistered seacraft. The Coast Guard earlier tightened security for the annual exodus, urging passengers to be at sea ports at least three hours before their scheduled departure. It also urged ship owners to secure the master list of passengers at least an hour before departure. — GMANews.TV
