Binay adviser escapes slay try in Cainta

A long-time political adviser of Makati mayor and vice presidential aspirant Jejomar Binay was hurt after being shot by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in Cainta, Rizal, on Sunday. Cainta police chief Superintendent Nereo Torrecampo said Gerry Limlingan is in stable condition in Medical City in Pasig after sustaining two gunshot wounds on his right leg and left arm. The shooting occurred at about 11 a.m. while Limlingan, 68, was driving along the border of Cainta and Pasig City. Binay, who is the running-mate of former President Joseph Estrada, said the attack was politically-motivated. “Gerry Limlingan is a very dear family friend. The attempt on his life is a despicable act that deserves condemnation. It is obviously politically-motivated," he said in statement. Binay did not elaborate, but aid they already have provided the authorities all the information they have. “We hope that they will [act] with dispatch," he said. Binay is running under the Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) banner. - with Sophia Dedace/KBK, GMANews.TV
