Many volunteers for 'Hello, Garci' commission, Noynoy says

ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan - Many people are starting to volunteer to work for a commission that will look into “Hello Garci" and other cases of the Arroyo government. This was announced by Senator Benigno Simeon “Noynoy" Aquino III on Tuesday, referring to a proposal he made earlier. “I understand there have been a lot of volunteers already who would want to man that particular commission. They want to go after all these closures that have been left hanging," he said during a press conference. However, he neither disclosed identities of volunteers nor provided details of the work they were supposed to render. Aquino earlier said he will form a commission to look into the unclosed cases of graft and state abuses by the present regime. These include the “Hello Garci" scandal that indicated cheating in the 2004 elections, the P728-million fertilizer fund scam involving former agriculture undersecretary Jocelyn Bolante, and the $328.49-million ZTE broadband network deal mess. “I do intend to settle that commission that will provide the mechanism that will close all of these pending issues," Aquino said. Lessons should be learned as “to how the system was abused," he added. “And more importantly, [if] we can show enough evidence that proves their guilt we should be bringing them to the bars of justice and we should have necessary sanctions against them." - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
