Ex-Sandigan justice is Arroyo's new chief legal counsel


President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has appointed retired Sandiganbayan justice Raoul Victorino as her new chief presidential legal counsel replacing Natividad Dizon, whom she appointed chairperson of the Board of Pardons and Parole. Victorino and Dizon took their oath Tuesday before Executive Secretary Leandro Mendoza in Malacañang. Victorino was a former member of the independent body formed to investigate the controversy involving three alleged drug pushers from affluent families and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). Victorino was also nominated for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) chairman position, which was eventually given to Jose Melo. Dizon, on the other hand, was the one who replaced Raul Gonzalez, who resigned to run for mayor of Iloilo City. She previously served as the deputy executive secretary for legal affairs. Dizon is a career officer who rose form the ranks in government. - KBK, GMANews.TV
