It’s judgment day this Sunday as GMA Network airs the fight between Filipina boxing pride Ana “The Hurricane" Julaton and Canada’s Lisa “Bad News" Brown for the vacant WBA Super Bantamweight belt at Casino Rama in Ontario Canada. Julaton continues her quest to become the undisputed world champion as she faces Brown, her toughest opponent yet who remains undefeated at 122 lbs in her four championship fights for the past three years. Julaton began her amateur boxing career in 2004, along the way clinching the San Francisco Diamond Belt, and was ranked No. 6 overall in the U.S.

She was the San Francisco State Champion, San Francisco Golden Gloves Champion, National Diamond Belt Champion, and eased a rank higher at No. 5 in 2006. Before she turned professional, she was the San Francisco Championship Gold Medalist, and ranked No. 2 in the U.S. in 2007. Julaton currently holds the WBO super bantamweight belt after beating Kelsey Jeffries in September 2009, and the IBA super bantamweight with her triumph over Deborah Biggers in November 2009. Her rival Brown, meanwhile, has an impressive record of 16 wins, 5 KOs, 3 draws and only 3 losses in 23 fights in her almost 10-year boxing career, compared to Julaton’s 6 wins, 1 loss and 1 draw in only 8 fights. "Bad News" Brown, 39, has fought more than 150 rounds, including bouts against world champions Melissa Hernandez, Alicia Ashley, Sharon Anyos, and Jeanine Garside. There were even talks of a Brown-vs-Jeffries fight in 2009 to solidify the best 122-lbs fighter in the world.

However, 29-year-old Julaton derailed the plan as she scored a majority decision upset over Jeffries in September 2009. In last Monday’s video conference with GMA President and Chief Executive Officer Felipe L. Gozon and members of the Manila press, Julaton, wearing a “Proud to be Kapuso" shirt, expressed confidence that she can take on the clever southpaw. She also expressed her gratitude for the support for her full steam quest to follow in the footsteps of her boxing hero, Manny Pacquaio, as she aims to become the best pound-for-pound female boxer in the world. “I don’t think I can do it by myself, but I’m just trying to do what I can. It’s definitely become a huge responsibility," she said. Julaton is set to write her name in the annals of boxing history on March 27 at 3:15 pm only on GMA Network.
