LTFRB inspects buses as Holy Week exodus starts

As the Holy Week exodus began Saturday, authorities inspected bus terminals in Metro Manila to ensure safe and comfortable trips for passengers. Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Chairman Alberto Suansing reminded public utility operators against overcrowding and overloading. "Kanina tinigil namin isang bus na bumiyahe dahil overcrowded sa loob ng sasakyan (Earlier today we stopped a bus from leaving the terminal because it was overcrowded)," Suansing said in an interview on Q-11 television's "Balitanghali." He said he and his men will continue safety checks on all vehicles heading for the provinces. Suansing said they will particularly inspect the conditions of the buses, such as tires, brakes and steering mechanism. Also, he said they will check terminals to see if the passenger accommodations are appropriate. Suansing likewise reminded bus operators they should shoulder the insurance of passengers, as public utility buses have personal passenger insurance coverage. — LBG, GMANews.TV
