Health officials on alert over measles rise in Lanao, Maguindanao

Health officials in Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao provinces are on alert over a rise in the number of measles cases there. The number of cases rose despite vaccinations, Radio dzXL reported, citing Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Health secretary Dr. Kadil Sinolinding. At least 39 residents in the two provinces had been recorded to have measles. The youngest is an eight-month-old baby. Most of those afflicted are staying in evacuation centers in the wake of recent fighting in Maguindanao, Sinolinding said. The Department of Health has started an investigation into the incident, the report said. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
