Hot weather, rains loom in RP on Good Friday

While rains loom over other parts of the country, some areas, especially in Metro Manila and northern Luzon, may experience hot weather. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a wind convergence is affecting Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao. "The Bicol Region, Visayas and Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," it said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. But PAGASA's extended forecast indicated that it may be hot in Metro Manila and hotter in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan, where the maximum temperature could hit 36 degrees Celsius up to Sunday. While Metro Manila may have isolated rains, temperatures may range from 23 to 35 degrees Celsius until Sunday, it added. On the other hand, temperatures in Baguio City may range from 15 to 26 degrees - and as low as 14 degrees on Sunday. In Tagaytay City, another popular tourist destination, temperatures may range from 20 to 28 degrees up to Sunday. Meanwhile, PAGASA said moderate to strong winds blowing from the East and Northeast will prevail over Visayas and Eastern Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. It advised fishing boats and other small seacraft not to venture out into the sea, and larger sea vessels to be on alert against big waves. — LGB, GMANews.TV
