Mike Arroyo may be discharged from hospital Wednesday

First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo is set to be discharged from St. Lukes' Medical Center on Wednesday, more than two weeks after he was rushed there because of heart problems. The latest medical bulletin issued by Arroyo's physicians said that the First Gentleman's health condition has "remarkably improved to an almost zero pain." "This enables him to continue progressive aggressive physical rehabilitation, which he will still continue to do on an outpatient basis after..." the bulletin read. "Because of this we are planning to discharge the First Gentleman on Wednesday," it added. The hospital also said that Atty. Arroyo's blood pressure has remained stable and is being "controlled with anti-hypertensive medications and diet modification." It stressed that the Atty. Arroyo will have to closely monitor his blood pressure and heart rate, even as he was barred from eating salty, fatty and high-calorie foods, and from lifting heavy objects and from travel, at least shortly after his discharge from hospital. Atty. Arroyo was rushed to the hospital on March 25 after complaining of back pains due to a medical condition related to a heart operation in 2007. This prompted President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to set up a temporary office at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City. Security at the hospital remained tight, with presidential guards changing shifts at 7 a.m., dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported. Mrs. Arroyo canceled her public engagements to keep watch over him but as his condition improved, she went to her hometown in Lubao, Pampanga Monday to attend a birthday mass. — wit a report by Aie Balagtas See/LBG, GMANews.TV
