1 hurt in Mindanao radio station blast

At least one person was reported hurt after a motorcycle-riding men hurled an explosive at a radio station owned by the provincial governor of Zamboanga Sibugay Monday evening. Kim Porras, station manager of Magic 103 FM, said on Tuesday that the men who threw the explosive used a motorcycle without license plates. "(Ginamit) ang XRM na walang plate number (The suspects used an XRM-type motorcycle without license plates)," Porras said in an interview on dzXL radio. He said it is possible politics was the motive of the incident, as the station had been critical of some politicians who he said offered to buy votes from residents. "May mga pulitiko dito, wala silang platform na ma-present sa gobyerno. Sabi nila bibilhin nila ang boto ... Dapat alamin natin sino ang ating iboboto (There are some politicians who do not show a platform of government but claim to plan to buy votes. We should watch out against these politicians)," he said. Porras said one of the two men on a motorcycle got off when they passed near the station, and then lobbed the explosive. He said police are still investigating the motive behind the incident, which occurred in Purok African Daisy in Kitabog village in Titay town. The radio station was near the house of provincial governor George Hofer, who also owns the radio station. On the other hand, a report on Sibugay Express posted on VERA Files website identified the wounded as Nestor Abando, 46. Abando was on a multi-cab passenger vehicle passing by the area when the bomb exploded around 6:45 p.m. He sustained shrapnel wounds on his back. — LBG, GMANews.TV
