Meralco schedules 2-hr brownouts Wednesday

The Manila Electric Co. scheduled two-hour brownouts in its service areas on Wednesday, citing a shortage in the supply of power. Meralco's Len Nazario cited a 3 a.m. report from the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) that many of its plants were not functioning properly. "Itong pagkawala ng kuryente dahil sa kakulangan ng power supply galing sa ating generating plants ... Hindi nakakatulong ang low elevation sa water level ng dam natin," Nazario said in an interview on radio dzBB. (This is due to the low power supply from our generating plants. And the low water level in our dams did not help.) She said the power generation plants that were not working included Team Energy’s Sual-2 power station in Pangasinan, First Gen Corp.’s Sta. Rita modules 20 and 40 in Batangas, and Kepco’s Malaya Unit 1 in Rizal.
