Jokes, faux pas dominate Lakas sortie in Pampanga

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga - Jokes and faux pas added color to an otherwise ordinary sortie here by the administration party Lakas-Kampi-CMD led by its standard-bearer Gilberto “Gibo" Teodoro Jr. During a meeting, senatorial bet Silvestre “Bebot" Bello III was mistakenly introduced by gubernatorial candidate Lilia “Baby" Pineda as “Bebot Villar," the head of the Presidential Anti-Smuggling Group (PASG). “Ang siguradong magiging senador at unang dapat iboto, si (A future senator of this country) Senator Bebot Villar," Pineda said during the meeting between Teodoro and Pampanga local leaders.

Pampanga is the home province of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, the chairman emeritus of Lakas-Kampi-CMD. Villar, incidentally, was the surname of another presidential aspirant, Sen. Manny Villar Jr. (Nacionalista Party), who was way ahead of Teodoro in various presidential surveys. Another blunder was committed by senatorial bet Raul Lambino when he mistakenly referred to presidential son and Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo as Mikey Cojuangco, a former actress and daughter of former Tarlac Rep. Jose “Peping" Cojuangco Jr. Mikey Cojuangco is the cousin of Sen. Benigno “Noynoy" Aquino III (Liberal Party), who has been constantly on top of presidential preference surveys. Jokes also dominated the sortie. Bello, for example, referred to fellow senatorial bet Rey Langit as “kaaway ng impiyerno (enemy of hell)." Bello also said Lambino is the best lawyer in the Philippines “second only to me." He also “confirmed" rumors that he is as good-looking as their vice presidential bet, actor and TV host Edu Manzano. Not to be outdone, Teodoro, in endorsing Bello and Langit, said: “Kung mahilig ka sa Bebot, dapat kasangga mo ang Langit." “Bebot" is the colloquial Filipino term for “girls," while “langit" means “sky" or “heaven." Roughly translated, the joke could mean, “If you like girls, then you are close to the sky." - KBK, GMANews.TV
