File SALN before April 30, CSC reminds gov’t officials

The Civil Service Commission reiterated its reminder for all incumbent government officials and employees to submit their Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) before April 30. CSC Chairman Francisco Duque III cautioned officials and employees not to overlook the importance of filing the SALN, which he said is part of their “sworn duty to serve the public with utmost transparency and accountability." “It is also a constant reminder that we should not use our positions for personal gain," Duque said in an article posted on the CSC website (www.csc.gov.ph). The CSC chief said the SALN is made “under oath," and reminded officials and employees that “falsification of information or failure to supply the required data may be subject to disciplinary or criminal action under Republic Act 6713." Under RA 6713, all those working in government are required to file their SALN yearly regardless of their position. The SALN, which is a comprehensive record of assets, liabilities, net worth, business interests, financial connections and relatives in government, should reflect information as of December 31, 2009. The CSC advised state workers to use the 1994 version of the SALN Form, and clarified that the Annual Declaration Form introduced in 2008 will no longer be used as it does not comply with relevant laws.—JV, GMANews.TV
