Villar brands as gimmick LP's lie detector test challenge

Nacionalista Party standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar Jr. on Monday night branded as gimmick the challenge of Liberal Party for him to undergo a lie detector test. "E gimik na naman yan e, mga lie detector test, alam mo naman na pang-ano yan e… sabi ko nga ako tinambakan nila ng black propaganda sinagot ko point by point (That’s only a gimmick, we all know that is only black propaganda. Besides, I have already answered the issues against me point by point)," Villar said. At a press conference, LP campaign manager Florencio Abad said: "Dapat yung kampo ni Senator Villar mag-submit to a lie detector test, hindi psychiatry test, kasi sila yung nagsisinungaling (The camp of Senator Villar should submit to a lie detector test – and not [talk about] a psychiatry test – because they're lying)." On the issue on the source of funds, Villar expressed confidence that he will be able to prevail over the complaint filed against him by lawyer Ernesto Francisco, counsel of independent presidential bet Senator Ma. Ana Consuelo "Jamby" Madrigal. “Inaasahan naman namin yan, we have our lawyers and wala kaming bina-violate na batas at wala akong ka-worry worry dyan. Basta tuloy lang ang kampanya (We have expected the filing of such cases, we have our lawyers and we don’t violate the law so I have no worry on that. We will just continue with our campaign)," Villar said. Villar believes the case was filed to deflect attention from the fake medical report on the alleged psychological condition of his closest rival LP standard bearer Sen. Benigno Simeon Aquino III. "Sa tingin ko kasama ito ng efforts nila para mawala yung usapan sa medical report na lumabas (I believe this is part of effort to deflect the talks on the supposed medical report)," Villar said. — Amita Legaspi/LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
