Magnitude-4.7 quake hits north Luzon — Phivolcs


A predawn magnitude-4.7 quake rocked parts of northern Luzon Tuesday, but there was no immediate report of damage or casualty. In its report early Tuesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was traced 91 kilometers west northwest of Lingayen in Pangasinan province. It said the tectonic quake that occurred 5:29 a.m. was felt at Intensity II in Bolinao town in Pangasinan and in Baguio City. Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake was at magnitude-4.9, which it traced at 70 km west northwest of Dagupan in Pangasinan. USGS said the epicenter was also 95 km west of Baguio City; 150 km northwest of Angeles, Pampanga; or 225 km northwest of Manila. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
