PAGASA: Hot weather looms anew in Metro, chance of rains slim

The relief from the oppressive summer heat provided by light rains last Tuesday will be short-lived, as state weather forecasters predicted hotter weather for the rest of the week. Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecaster Elvie Enriquez said Wednesday that the chances of a repeat of Tuesday’s rains are very slim. “May chances din siya magkaroon, bagama’t di gaanong malaki tulad ng kahapon, maliit na lang siya ngayon(It is still possible there will be rains today but the chances are very small)," Enriquez said in an interview on dwIZ radio. She said temperatures in Metro Manila are expected to climb anew to 35 degrees Celsius, after temperatures Tuesday went down to 34.4˚C. Metro Manila had experienced its hottest weather last Sunday at 36.3˚C. PAGASA’s extended forecast indicated Metro Manila will have 36-degree weather this weekend, even as Tuguegarao City may experience 38-degree weather on Sunday. Even Baguio City is expected to sizzle during the weekend with temperatures reaching an uncomfortable 29˚C. Meanwhile, PAGASA’s 5 a.m. bulletin indicated a diffused tail-end of a cold front is affecting Northern and Eastern Luzon, adding that an easterly wave is affecting the Visayas and Mindanao. “The eastern sections of the country will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies except for isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," it said. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to occasionally rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east with slight to moderate seas. — LBG, GMANews.TV
