Alaska coach Tim Cone has received a lot of inquiries on his top gun â two time most valuable player Willie Miller.
But the outspoken mentor didnât show any interest of shipping his superstar guard to any squad at this time. âThey inquired about him (Miller), but we havenât shown interest," said the grandslam champion coach in a text message. âBut nothing is going on." Coneâs remarks came amidst reports that Miller is being wooed by another team. The American mentor confirmed this as he has been getting inquiries, but refused to entertain thoughts on trading the player he considers as âone of the best in terms of closing games." Asked whether his team is pursuing Miller, Ginebra coach Jong Uichico said heâs not privy to the matter. The soft-spoken bench tactician, however, confirmed that he wants to upgrade his line-up pending the return of veteran forward Rudy Hatfield. âYes, we do want to upgrade our team. We have players on the injured list and we want a player who can also play good minutes for us," said Uichico. âBut I donât have any knowledge about Miller, and I donât know if Alaska is indeed trading Miller to other teams." Uichico added that Hatfield has been showing signs of progress. "But I donât want to rush him," said Uichico. "Slowly but surely lang. I know he wil be a big help for us down the stretch."
