1 killed, 5 hurt in 3-vehicle smashup in Bataan


At least one bystander was killed while five people were injured in a three-vehicle smashup along Roman Highway in Bataan province Saturday. The accident, which occurred at Gabon village in Abucay town, involved two passenger cars and a van, Radio dzXL reported. The fatality was initially identified as Carmelito Montero, 33. The injured included PO3 Luisito de Guzman, one SPO4 Prado, Victor Puedevan, Gormit Sin and Jimmy David. A Hyundai Starex van hit a Hyundai sedan while trying to overtake it, followed moments later by a Honda Civic from the opposite lane hitting the two vehicles, initial investigation showed. The injured were rushed to the Bataan General Hospital in Balanga City. Meanwhile, six people were injured, one of them a four-year-old girl, after a passenger jeep they were riding crashed at Silangan Malikboy village in Pagbilao town, Quezon province. Investigation showed the jeep (plate number EBL-530) driven by Ruel Arenas went out of control.—JV, GMANews.TV
