Quiboloy to announce chosen bets on May 2

Davao City—Religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, who is celebrating his 60th birthday Sunday, said he would announce his endorsements a week before the May 10 automated elections. Facing his guests here—presidential, vice presidential and senatorial candidates, among them—Quiboloy, founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), said he still has to “pray" first before he announces his final decision on May 2. “May mga nagtanong sa akin kung meron na akong kapahayagan, ang sabi ko nananatiling ganun pa rin (People have been asking me if I’m ready to endorse someone, I told them I haven’t decided yet). I have to pray after this and have to decide on May 2nd," he said.

Among those who went here to personally greet Quiboloy were presidential candidates Sen. Manny Villar Jr. (Nacionalista Party), former President Joseph Estrada (Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino), Bro. Eddie Villanueva (Bangon Pilipinas), Sen. Richard Gordon (Bagumbayan), Sen. Jamby Madrigal (independent), and administration standard bearer Gilberto Teodoro Jr. (Lakas-Kampi-CMD). Interviewed by reporters here, Teodoro said he was not after Quiboloy’s endorsement. He said he attended the gathering just to personally greet the influential religious leader. “Wala akong pakialam kung sino ang ie-endorse niya o hindi. Hindi nga endorsement ang habol ko. Birthday niya (I don’t care who he endorses. I’m not after his endorsement. I just want to personally greet him on his birthday)," he said. Also present were vice presidential bets Sen. Loren Legarda (NPC) Bayani Fernando (Bagumbayan), Perfecto Yasay (Bangon Pilipinas), Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay (PMP), and Jay Sonza (Kilusang Bagong Lipunan). Senatorial candidates Adel Tamano, Silvestre Bello III, Gilbert Remulla, Susan Ople, Gwen Pimentel, Ramon Guico, Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Ralph Recto, Ramon “Bong" Revilla Jr., and Pia Cayetano also attended the event. Quiboloy, whose church boasts of six million followers, had earlier said that he would announce his choice on his birthday. —KBK, GMANews.TV
