Report: 3 suspected robbers killed in Manila shootout

Three suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with police in Manila's downtown Sta. Cruz district before dawn Monday, moments after pulling off what turned out to be their final heist. Radio dzBB reported early Monday that one of the three suspects was killed on the spot while the two others died before reaching a hospital. The identities of the suspects were not immediately known. Manila Police District Station 3 commander Superintendent Nelson Yabut said the three had held up a woman and got on a taxi, but police teams intercepted the cab at the corner of Oroquieta and Mayhaligue Streets in Sta. Cruz. Yabut, citing reports reaching him, said the suspects fired at the police team, triggering the firefight.
