Three-storey Tondo hospital annex offering free CT scans inaugurated

A three-storey annex of the Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center (GABMMC) in Tondo, Manila was inaugurated on Monday. The new facility, which will offer CT-scan services for free, will host the medical center’s outpatient and radiology departments. A CT scan procedure in other hospitals usually costs between P3,000 to P8,000 but will be offered for free at the newly-inaugurated annex hospital. The annex also features new services such as ultra sound, c-arm xray and stress tests. It is also equipped with cardiac monitors and delivery tables. More delivery tables were provided since Tondo public hospitals record 300 births per month, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim said in a speech during the annex’s inauguration. The new 10-storey, fully-airconditioned Sta. Ana Hospital located in the city’s sixth district is slated for inauguration also within the week, Lim said. The City Government of Manila recently established Jose Abad Santos Mother and Child Hospital (JASMCH), the GABMMC annex and then the Sta. Ana hospital, completing the goal of building one hospital per legislative district. Currently, the first district has GABMMC, second district has Ospital ng Tondo, third district has JASMCH, fourth District has Ospital ng Sampaloc, and the fifth district has Ospital ng Maynila. - Jacques Jimeno/RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
