PAGASA: LPA to bring rains to Palawan

A low-pressure area (LPA) will bring rains to parts of Palawan province and parts of Southern Luzon and the Visayas Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the LPA was estimated at 80 km northeast of Puerto Princesa City, even as a cold front is affecting extreme Northern Luzon. "Palawan will experience cloudy skies with scattered to widespread rainshowers. The western section of Visayas and southwestern section of Southern Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms," it said. The LPA would have been codenamed "Basyang" had it intensified into a cyclone, but PAGASA said there was little chance of that happening. It added Extreme Northern Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered light rains, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. On the other hand, temperatures in Metro Manila will remain above 36 degrees from Wednesday though Friday, PAGASA said in its extended weather forecast. Temperatures will also remain at a "cool" 36 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan. — LBG, GMANews.TV
