Metro Manila's hottest day recorded on Wednesday

The hottest day in Metro Manila was recorded on Wednesday after temperatures breached the 37-degree mark, state weather forecasters of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services (Pagasa) said. The temperature in Metro Manila, particularly in Quezon City, reached a scorching 37.3 degrees Celsius at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday, Pagasa senior weather Rene Paciente said in a radio interview. This temperature surpassed a previous hottest day “record" of 36.8 degrees Celsius last April 20. Paciente also warned that Metro Manila temperature may even reach 38 degrees in May due to the El Niño dry spell. The highest temperature in Metro Manila — 38.5 degrees Celsius — was recorded on May 14, 1987, Paciente said. The highest temperature in the country, meanwhile, was recorded on April 29, 1912, when a sizzling 39.5 degrees Celsius was registered in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan Valley. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
