Villar admits Guido Delgado is ‘NP supporter’

Nacionalista Party standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar Jr. admitted Wednesday knowing former National Power Corporation president Guido Delgado as his supporter but refused to take any sanction against the latter. "Kilala ko si Mr. Guido Delgado, isa syang dating gabinete ni FVR (former President Fidel Ramos), kaya lang hindi ko alam ang issue na yan (I know Mr. Guido Delgado, he was with FVR’s former Cabinet, but I don’t know that issue)," he told reporters during an event organized by the Filipino Hairdressers Cooperative in Pasay City. Delgado released to media on Tuesday copies of a purported report on Liberal Party presidential bet Sen. Benigno Aquino III's mental health. The report was later found out to be fake. Villar said Delgado's move was without NP's consent but he could not sanction the latter because he was just a volunteer. "You cannot remove a volunteer kasi nagbo-volunteer lang yan (because he is merely serving as a volunteer). Wala akong karapatang gawin ang anuman kay Guido dahil siya'y isang citizen na volunteer at kung ano ang gusto niyang gawin ay gagawin niya (I have no right to impose anything on Guido because he is a citizen volunteer, and he can do what he wants to do)," he said. Villar added that he sees nothing wrong with Delgado's decision to come out with the report. "I have yet to read the report but to be fair, what if he was right?...You are already concluding na meron siyang ginawang masama, e hindi ko pa nga alam. Paano kung mabuti yung ginawa niya (that he did something wrong, but I don’t know about that yet. What if he did something that was good)?" the senator said. Villar reiterated that NP does not engage in black propaganda. "Ako ang naliligo sa black propaganda (I’m the one awash in black propaganda)," he said. —JV, GMANews.TV
