Villar condemns killing of NP organizer in Davao Sur

Nacionalista Party standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar Jr. on Friday condemned the murder of one of the party's organizers in Davao del Sur. Villar said Sabas Suansing was shot to death by three unidentified gunmen in his home in Barangay Baluntaya in Don Marcelino town Tuesday night. "In less than two weeks, two of our coordinators have been brutally killed. I call on the police to arrest this trend of violence not only against members of the NP, but all parties as well," Villar in a press statement. Reports reaching the NP headquarters indicated Suansing was killed in front of his family and that the assailants even removed his ears. "We condemn this senseless and needless act. Violence has no place in a democratic exercise such as the elections," Villar said. Two weeks ago, Andres Peralta, a coordinator of the party in Nueva Era town in Ilocos Norte, was shot dead in Barangay Macayepyep in Banna town. Villar believed attacks on Suansing and Peralta were election-related. In December, village chieftain Wilbert "Dodong" Origines, Association of Barangay Captains president and NP candidate for vice mayor in Taganaan town, Surigao del Norte, was shot and later died due to complications from the gunshot wounds.
