Livelihood project beneficiaries to get awards on Labor Day
Filipinos who were able to improve their lives with the help of government-assisted livelihood projects will be feted on Labor Day this Saturday. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will confer the DOLE-Kabuhayan Awards to the outstanding individuals and workers groups that implemented DOLE-assisted livelihood projects. In an article on the DOLE website (www.dole.gov.ph), Labor Secretary Marianito Roque said the DOLE-Kabuhayan Award aims to recognize and showcase the best DOLE-assisted livelihood projects that were implemented during the last five years for priority groups of beneficiaries. Awardees for the national level will be feted at a ceremony on Saturday at the SMX Convention Center at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City. The DOLE Kabuhayan Awards is composed of six categories and will be conferred at the regional and national levels. The six categories are:
- Sikap Kabuhayan Award for outstanding individual worktrepreneurs who have demonstrated entrepreneurial characteristics and served as role models for emerging entrepreneurs;
- Dagdag Kabuhayan Award for outstanding union or group enterprises that demonstrated potentials for significant growth, including the ability to achieve profitability to augment workers’ income;
- Kabalikat Kabuhayan Award for outstanding women’s group projects that demonstrated women power in business;
- Kanayunang Kabuhayan Award for outstanding agricultural workers’ group projects that contributed to the economic strength of the community;
- Isla Kabuhayan Award for outstanding fishermen’s group projects that contributed to the economic strength of the coastal community; and
- Kabataang Kabuhayan Award for outstanding group projects that contributed to the economic strength of the community.
- Category 1: Ma. Zeny Belen, Region 6; Margarita Dagooc, Region 8; and, Cerila A. Cuadrillero, CARAGA.
- Category 2: King Mills Workers Union, NCR; Cast Member’s MPC (Enchanted Kingdom), Region 4-A; Peñafrancia Sugar Mill (PENSUMIL), Region 5; and, Springland Young Workers Association, Region 9
- Category 3: Fidel Surtida Native Food Processors Assn. (FSNFPA), Region 5; Lambunao Garments, Region 6; and, Bolisong Wine Makers Inc., Region 10
- Category 4: Cordillera Beekeepers Federation, CAR; BAGNOS Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Region 1; Alion Kapit-Bisig SEA-K Association, Region 3 ; and, AMS Fresh Fruits Producers Coop, Region 11
- Category 5: Panaghugpong sa Katawhan sa Tinangnan (PAKATI), Region 7; Potong Del Sur Small Fisherfolks Association, Region 8; and, Bislig Community Development and Livelihood Association of Displaced Workers.
- Category 6: Central Youth Organization, CAR; Josiah Youth Movement, Region 1; San Marcos Young Entrepreneurs Association, Region 2; and, Working Youth of Davao City, Region 11.
