PPCRV starts distributing 'guides' to voters

With just one week to go before Election Day, a Church-based poll watchdog group has started distributing "guides" to Filipino voters. The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said the guides will prepare people on how to vote, and who to vote for. PPCRV treasurer Dra. Zenaida Rotea said provincial coordinators would distribute the materials, according to an article on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines news site. She said the materials have been distributed to archdioceses and dioceses nationwide. The kits include a voter’s prayer; T-shirts; Sampung utos sa tamang pagboto manual; sample ballots; voter’s education manual; poll watching guide; Communications Foundation for Asia (CFA) and PPCRV comics; and an instructional video on the steps on voting wisely. Also, they contain posters titled “The Rise of the Machines," an introduction to the computer-based voting machines that will be used on May 10. CFA said the advantages and ease of using the PCOS machine are described in a “manga-type story" (comics) that would appeal to young people. The CFA also plans to set up a voter’s assistance desk for the elections. — LBG, GMANews.TV
