Pacquiao: I could have done more damage to Mayweather

Manny Pacquiao only saw a portion of the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Sugar Shane Mosley welterweight bout Sunday, but already noticed a chink in the unbeaten showman’s armor. Having seen the part when Mosley rocked Mayweather with two solid right hands in the second round, the 31-year old Pacquiao is convinced “Money" is vulnerable after all. Had he been the one in the MGM Grand Arena with Mayweather at that moment, the world’s no. 1 fighter, pound-for-pound, admitted he could have dealt more damage on the former US Olympian. “If I can hit Mayweather like that, I will finish him off," Pacquaio told American boxing writer Michael Marley, who is currently with the seven-time world boxing champion in General Santos City to cover the national election. “I would continue the attack in a way that Mosley did not. I will attack until Mayweather is gone." After having Mayweather on the verge of getting knocked down, Mosley failed to capitalize, admitting he got tight and didn’t adjust when his opponent put the pressure on him by going on the offensive beginning the third round. The end result had Mayweather scoring a lopsided win to remain undefeated in 41 fights. Shortly after, Mayweather declared himself open to a face-off with Pacquiao, either this year or in the near future, so long as the Filipino ring icon would subject himself into random-style drug testing. Asked about it, Pacquiao didn’t think twice and declared, “Yes, I want Mayweather." But at the same time, he said it is not for Mayweather to decide or dictate the kind of blood testing to be administered on both of them. “I am not the lawmaker when it comes to the rules and regulations of any boxing commission. That is not my job or my duty. Neither is it Mayweather's, unless he forms his own personal commission," said Pacquiao. If and when only a commission orders Pacquiao to undergo Olympic-style drug testing will he allow himself to be subjected to such a procedure. “That’s the only time Manny will undergo such a test," said Pacquiao’s counsel Jeng Gacal. Mayweather’s insistence on a random drug test led to the collapse of talks on a multi-million dollar showdown with Pacquiao earlier scheduled for March 13 and expected to go down as the richest fight in the history of boxing. – RCJ/HGS, GMANews.TV
