Erap camp incredulous of new SWS poll results

The camp of former President Joseph Estrada on Thursday questioned the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey showing the Pwersa ng Masa Pilipino (PMP) standard-bearer in distant second to Liberal Party’s Senator Benigno Aquino III. The “incredible numbers" shown in latest SWS poll do not mirror the situation “on the ground," PMP spokesperson Rafael Calinisan said in a text message to GMANews.TV. “We do not know how the SWS got these incredible numbers, but we are certain that these numbers do not reflect the reality on the ground," he said. Calinisan likewise said that Aquino “cannot claim victory" based on the latest poll results alone. The SWS survey conducted last May 2 to 3 showed Aquino getting a 42 percent preference rating—22 percentage points ahead of second placer Estrada, who got 20 percent. And please do not be so impetuous as to call for another people power revolt when you lose on May 10," he said in a press conference in San Juan City on Thursday morning. The PMP also raised doubts about the latest SWS figures showing the party’s vice-presidential bet, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, tied in first place with LP’s Sen. Manuel Roxas II. “Binay should even be leading by now. No black propaganda can stop our dark horse," Calinisan said.—JV, GMANews.TV
