NP to media: Sorry for security foul-up in Pasig rally

The Nacionalista Party on Thursday blamed the security group it employed for its campaign rally in Pasig City for the “confusion brought about by a misunderstanding of security protocols," which earned the ire of reporters covering standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar Jr. On Wednesday night, journalists were prevented by organizers from getting near Villar and interviewing him. The members of the security group employed by the party during the event failed to accurately implement the orders that were given to them," the NP said in a press statement. It added that it is now undertaking corrective measures to prevent a repeat of the incident in the future. “It was a misunderstanding between the security group and the organizers of the event. We have already reprimanded those who were involved in denying members of the media entry to the stage area of the rally," the NP said.—Amita O. Legaspi/JV, GMANews.TV
