NP's Tondo miting de avance will be a show of force, spokesperson says

A show of force. This was how Nacionalista Party spokesperson and senatorial bet Gilbert Remulla described the party’s miting de avance in Vitas, Tondo, Manila on Friday evening. “It is our last rally so we are expecting a full show of force, all the candidates, all the supporters will be coming here. We are expecting a lot of people (to come)," he told reporters before the start of the rally held at the Manila Harbour Center compound. The facility can hold anywhere from 150,000 to 180,000 people. It will be their last call to battle to their supporters “and to really encourage and motivate our troops and to show them that we are very well much in contention in this race." NP standard bearer Senator Manuel Villar Jr.’s performance in the surveys have been declining in the past weeks. “This is our call for everybody to be ready and for everybody to be more devoted that on Monday kailangan na yung makinarya ay gagana talaga ng mahusay para maidala lahat ng boto para sa NP at para kay Sen Villar, senatoriables, Sen Legarda, lahat yan ay pupunta sa presinto para bumoto," Remulla said. (On Monday, the machinery should work properly so that all voters for the NP, Senator Villar, senatorial bets, and Senator Legarda would come out and vote.) He admitted that there are some logistical problems on the ground but “these are minor problems that are being talked about. It will never be perfect, we expected all these little minor incidents but inaayos yan as we speak." (These minor incidents are all being fixed as we speak.) Remulla said the NP chose to hold the meeting de avance in Tondo because it is where Villar came from. The stage was set up across the infamous mountain of garbage more popularly known as Smokey Mountain. Expected to grace the event are Villar’s endorsers Willie Revillame, boxing champion and congressional candidate Manny Pacquiao, Comedy King Dolphy, Michael V, and Sarah Geronimo. Bands Aegis, 6cyclemind, Kamikazee are also expected to perform in the event. Villar is expected to emphasize in his speech the “real issue of this year’s elections — competence and track record to eradicate the country’s poverty." The NP had said that despite the relentless black propaganda hurled against him, Villar remains undaunted and confident that he can pull off an upset against his closet rival Aquino much like the Dewey-Truman experience. Harry Truman won the 1948 US presidential elections that spawned one of the greatest political upsets in history. Villar traces his roots to Tondo where he spent his childhood and experienced the struggles of being poor. The senator vows to end poverty if he wins the presidency. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
