Mendoza gets fresh mandate as NGAP president

Executive Secretary Leandro “Larry" Mendoza received a fresh mandate as president of the National Golf Association of the Philippines (NGAP) during the golf body’s first board meeting held at Malacañang. The NGAP held its biennial elections two weeks ago at the Philippine Ports Authority. Mendoza, an avid golfer himself, renewed his commitment to continue NGAP’s successful programs and promote the sport further in its vision to discover new talents, who can become future members of the national team. Focus will be on the formation of the national team to various major international tournaments, including the Putra Cup, the Nomura Cup, the World Amateurs and the Asian Games. “I assure the body that our association will continue to pursue its desire to promote the game of golf and to identify potential amateur golfers who can be trained to be topnotch caliber golfers for the country and eventually in the world," said Mendoza, on his third term as president of the country’s governing body for amateur golf. Rod Feliciano also retained his position as chairman of the NGAP while Commodore Danilo Pizarro stayed as NGAP vice president. Edgar Joselito Arceo Jr. was elected as new secretary-general who will also be in charge of the handicapping and course rating, while Pablo Soon was delegated as treasurer while Alice Ll. Andrada became the new auditor. Other NGAP appointed officials were Caloy Coscoluella, rules and grounds and amateur status, Andrada (finance and ladies), Jun Galindez (membership), Pizarro (seniors), Jose Vilchez (awards) and Federico Agcaoili (legal). - RCJ/Adrian Flores, GMANews.TV
