Drunks arrested after reportedly harassing vice mayor's household in Agusan


BUENAVISTA, Agusan del Norte - Two visibly drunk registered voters were arrested by the Buenavista Municipal Police after complaints that both allegedly tried to harass the household of vice mayoral bet Leonarda Mole Zafra on Monday morning after reportedly failing to receive a bribe. The suspects were identified as Ronald Mandahinog, 27, and Danilo Rosales, 30, both married and residents of Barangay Simbalan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, Buenavista Police Desk Officer PO1 Julie Gomez said. The two were allegedly arrested for public alarm and scandal and several violations of election laws including being drunk during election day, Gomez told GMANews.TV. The liquor ban has been implemented here since Sunday. Household members and some supporters of Buenavista Municipal Councilor Leonarda Zafra, who is running for Vice Mayor under Nationalist People’s Coalition, said the two arrived at the Zafra residence past 9 a.m. this morning and allegedly asked their share of “alindahaw" or “vote-selling or buying money" from them. The two then allegedly started to shout cursing words and reportedly started to destroy furniture and other belongings of the Zafra residence, prompting household members to seek police assistance. Buenavista Police said it will investigate the incidents as soon as police investigators will arrive at the police station. Other police investigators are still investigating some reported cases outside while some are leading other cops to secure police precincts. They claimed they lacked investigators to investigate complaints. The two is now temporarily detained at the Buenavista Municipal Police Detention Jail here. - RJAB Jr., GMANews.TV
