The unofficial data culled by GMA News from 76,347 precincts nationwide showed Aquino, son of Philippine democracy icons Corazon C. Aquino and Benigno Aquino Jr., garnering 9,163,255 votes. The figures represent 57 percent of precincts nationwide, the first official batch transmitted to Comelec servers, as of 11:11 p.m. 75 percent voter turnout The Comelec said around 75 percent of all registered voters cast their votes on Monday. The figure translates to about 37.5 million of the 50 million registered voters for the May polls, according to Comelec chairman Jose Melo. “I would have been very happy with a little over 50 percent, but we have here 75 percent. I am very, very happy," Melo said. The Comelec is expected to give the next update at 6 a.m. Tuesday, complete with the breakdown of votes per province. Results of the random manual audit of 10 percent of the precincts chosen to have their votes manually counted for counterchecking with the automated results will also be released Tuesday, according to the Comelec.
