Pacquiao headed for KO victory in Sarangani

The Filipino boxing icon is on his way to scoring a knockout victory and end the Chinogbians’ decades-old reign in Sarangani, the home province of Pacquiao's wife Jinkee. Based on GMA News' partial and unofficial tallies from precinct election returns, the seven world division champion holds a 29,422 lead over Roy Chiongbian for the lone legislative district of Sarangani province. As of 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Pacquiao garnered 53,727 votes compared to the 24,305 by Chiongbian with 66.75 percent of the election returns counted. But Pacquiao’s Canadian adviser and liaison officer to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, Michael Koncz, remained cautious and have not yet declared victory for the "People’s Champ". "It’s still a long way to go. Nothing is final yet," said Koncz, in an interview by GMANews.TV. "(Manny) has an insurmountable lead but there are still more votes to count. But we are confident that he’ll win." Koncz said Pacquiao’s imminent win won’t pose a problem in his ring comeback in November. "We haven’t agreed on anything yet. We’re still on the negotiating table and discussing things. We’ll see what will happen. We haven’t agreed on anything yet." Koncz added that if ever Pacquiao decides to fight again this year, the General Santos City native needs to sit down with his mother Dionisia to try to convince her for a final bout. The Pacquiao matriarch has consistently asked her son to retire and even threatened that she’ll gatecrash the Pacman’s next fight.
