Police colonel dies in NVizcaya road crash


BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya – A police officer was killed in a road crash before dawn Monday, while on his way to report for duty at the Police Regional Office (PRO) Region 1, a police officer reported Tuesday. Provincial police director Senior Superintendent Pedro Danguilan confirmed to GMANews.TV that the lone fatality was Senior Superintendent Teodorico Danao, head of the police-community relations division at the Philippine National Police’s Camp Gen. Oscar Florendo in San Fernando La Union. A native of Tuguegarao City, Danao was reportedly the one driving his Toyota Revo with plate number XDP 547. Reports show that he was negotiating a sharp curve on the national highway in Aritao town’s Darapidap village when it collided head on with north-bound passenger bus owned by the Florida Bus Company with plate number AVC 247 and driven by Artemio Roldan of Echague, Isabela. Danguilan added that a few seconds after the collision, a passenger bus registered with Dagupan Bus Company rear-ended the Florida bus it was trailing. The victim was pronounced dead at the Veteran’s Regional Hospital in capital town Bayombong, while his companion identified as PO1 Reginaldo Ramos only sustained minor injuries. Bus driver Roldan is now under the custody of Aritao police. — LBG, GMANews.TV
