Fire razes 100 houses in Cebu, 20 in Quezon City
Fire of undetermined origin razed at least 100 houses in Cebu City late Wednesday, while another fire destroyed some 20 houses in Quezon City Wednesday night. Radio dzBB on Thursday cited reports from its Cebu affiliate indicating the Cebu fire started at the house of a village watchman in Sitio San Jose in Tinago village. No one was initially reported injured in the fire, which started at 4:34 p.m. and spread to neighboring houses, many of which were made of light materials. Firefighters placed the fire, which reached the general alarm, under control after 40 minutes. A separate report on dzXL radio said arson investigators initially estimated the damage to property in the Cebu fire at P1 million. Meanwhile, in Quezon City, at least 20 houses made of light materials in Baesa village were razed Wednesday evening.
