Late gov's driver plows SUV into 3 houses, 3 days after his boss' death

Three days after Quezon Governor Rafael Nantes was killed in a helicopter accident, his bodyguard driving his sport-utility vehicle figured in a freak predawn accident in Lucena City Thursday. A Ford Everest (SHY-401) driven by Nantes' bodyguard plowed into three houses in Gulang-Gulang village in Lucena City at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Radio dzRH reported. No one was reported injured in the incident, even as the residents in the houses declined to press charges. Nantes' bodyguard, initially identified as Petty Officer 1 Wilmar, was driving back to the site of Nantes' wake from Tayabas town at about 12:30 a.m. when he felt dizzy, the report said. He then lost control of the vehicle and hit three houses. Last Monday, Nantes, his two aides and a pilot died after their helicopter crashed shortly after takeoff. Nantes, 53, was the treasurer of the national campaign of the Liberal Party in the May 10 elections. He ran for re-election but lost to David Suarez of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD. - GMANews.TV
