No Filipino on ill-fated Air India plane, says DFA

No Filipino was on board the ill-fated Air India plane that crashed on Saturday, leaving 158 dead and eight survivors. Government-run dzRB radio quoted Philippine Foreign Affairs spokesperson Eduardo Malaya as saying this was the report of the Philippine Embassy in New Delhi in India. Malaya said Philippine embassy officials immediately coordinated with concerned officials and verified the list of passengers, which showed no Filipino was on board the plane. The Air India Boeing 737-800 plane, which carried 160 passengers and six crew members on a flight from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, overshot a hilltop runway in southern India and plunged over a cliff. Only eight survived the crash. On Sunday, the Philippine government extended its sympathies to the Indian government over the tragedy. —Sophia Regina Dedace/VS,GMANews.TV
