After days of scorching heat, rains finally fall in Metro Manila

Rain showers on Tuesday morning provided much-needed relief to parts of Metro Manila after several days of 37-degree temperatures. In eastern Metro Manila, radio dzBB’s Sam Nielsen reported that some residents in San Juan City were surprised over the sudden rainfall past 8 a.m. Light rains also fell on parts of Quezon City, according to a report by dzBB’s Manny Vargas. In Manila, dzBB’s Carlo Mateo reported dark clouds were forming over parts of the city. But the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the rains were isolated and did not mean the rainy season is here. "Mga lugar na nagkaroon ng ulap, panandaliang ulan yan at di inaasahang maghapon mangyayari yan (The cloudy weather and rains in some areas are isolated and are not expected to last long)," PAGASA senior weather forecaster Lenny Ruiz said on dzBB radio. PAGASA’s 5 a.m. bulletin had indicated an intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) affecting Mindanao and the tail-end of a cold front affecting Northern Luzon. — LBG, RSJ GMANews.TV
