2 taxi robbers killed in predawn shootout in QC — report

Two suspected robbers preying on taxi drivers were killed in a predawn shootout in Quezon City Friday, moments after pulling off their final heist. A report by dzBB radio's Roland Bola said the taxi driver who the two men tied up and stuffed in the cab's trunk managed to survive the encounter. "Noong tinali ako, sa likod ako nilagay. Pilit ko alisin ang tali sa paa at kamay (After they robbed me, they tied me up and stuffed me in the trunk. I tried to free myself)," cabbie Ricky Aujero said moments after police found him in the trunk. The report said the first suspect was killed on the spot. A handgun was found near his body. The suspect was wearing black shorts and brown shirt. On the other hand, the second suspect was declared dead at a nearby hospital. Police intelligence operatives said they chanced on the commandeered taxi along North Avenue near the Elliptical Road. They claimed the suspects fired at them, prompting them to fire back. It was the third time since Wednesday night that suspected robbers had been killed in shootouts with police in Quezon City, the dzBB report said. — LBG,GMANews.TV
