Iloilo cabbie loses cash, clothes to robbers

At three unidentified robbers - one of them a woman - took away not just the earnings of a taxi driver in Iloilo province, but also his clothing. The robbers had cabbie Jose Montalvo, 30, take off his clothes, including his underwear, after robbing him of P2,500 Thursday, news site The News Today reported. Montalvo said the incident occurred early Thursday along Poblacion Ilaya village in Zarraga town in Iloilo province in Western Visayas. Investigation showed the three suspects flagged down Montalvo's "Light of Glory" cab at Cuartero village in Jaro district. The suspects, described as in their 20s, allegedly told the driver to take them to Zarraga town. But upon reaching Bangga Mauring in Leganes town, the woman alighted from the vehicle and her companions went on to Zarraga. When they reached the town proper, the two suspects declared a holdup, and at knife point took P2,200 in earnings and his wallet containing P300. The suspects then ordered the victim to undress and took the clothes as they left on a waiting motorcycle driven by another person. Montalvo then radioed his fellow drivers for help. Some 10 cabbies arrived and helped the victim and brought him a pair of pants and shirt before they proceeded to report the incident to Zarraga Police Station. — LBG, GMANews.TV
