Changing Metro Manila’s color to yellow is unlikely — MMDA

Despite the coming of a new administration, a change of color for Metro Manila from green to yellow is not likely, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said on Saturday. MMDA General Manager Roberto Nacianceno also said that while Chairman Oscar Inocentes could be replaced by the new president, he and other career officials would continue the agency's work. “Di siguro, I don’t think so. Hindi na man siguro ganoon ka-trivial ang situation para magkaganoon (I don’t think there will be a change of color. I don’t think the situation is that trivial)," Nacianceno said on government-run dzRB radio. The MMDA began painting Metro Manila green when Inocentes was appointed to the post in November 2009 to replace Bayani Fernando, who ran for vice president in the May 10 elections. Under Fernando’s stint as MMDA chairman, Metro Manila’s flyovers, sidewalk railings and some public facilities were painted pink. Green is the political color of administration presidential bet Gilberto Teodoro Jr. Yellow is the campaign color of president-apparent Sen. Benigno Simeon "Noynoy" Aquino III. On the other hand, Nacianceno said he and his fellow career officers are ready to serve under the incoming administration, even as he stressed the programs will remain the same. “Ang programa standard, kailangan ma-clear ang daanan ng tubig (Our programs are standard, mainly to clear waterways to prevent floods)," he said. — LBG, GMANews.TV
